Basketry Workshop:
This is a group of baskets I made at a workshop I attended at Sturt craft centre. The tutor, Virginia Kaiser was fantastic. Although I am quite happy with some of the baskets, they are very clearly "amateur", and I need a lot of practice to improve my techniques and neatness.

The baskets, from top are:
1: a stone, wrapped in silk. I did this as an experiment, and found the silk to be a bit slippery to work with, compared with linen or other more sturdy threads. But it was fun. It is not every day you decide to wrap a rock!
2: a cane basket, using lots of different grasses and plants
3: a small string bag from hand made string (from raffia) with added beads and emu feathers
4: basket made from rattan, palm flower stalks, bullrushes, philadendron and watsonia
5: a small basket from watsonia, stitched with linen, and topped with pine needles.
6: Random weave basket - rattan and palm flower stalks.
